A project in work...
Howdy, and welcome to my space in the internet world!
I'm Mark.
Born in La Crosse, Wi. on the banks of the Mississippi river. A scenic part of the river
valley with hills, wildlife and fishing as well as historic sites.
Great place to live as I am 2 hours from the Twin Cities and 4 hours from Chicago. Being
alone in the woods is a scant 17 miles away....reflection zone! As you can tell from my
nature pix I love the outdoors and everything that it offers.
As a kid I spent many a day either by the river fishing or swimming or in the woods and
swamp behind my friends home. Times were simple then in La Crosse , WI. ................
until I found the Amazing Blue Öyster Cult! It was On Your Feet or On Your
Knees..Live.......OH MY! Hook set! Got Agents of Fortune right away as well and began to
get back to the 1st 3 albums. This was unlike anything on the radio that I had ever heard
before! The feel, lyrics, and not knowing what these guys were really all about was what
kept me from never losing my interest in this band. All through Sr. Highschool I preached
the word...I was a dj on a small(now gone)radio station that the school had with a range of
about 6 blocks and I would play the hell outta BÖC!  More and more students became
interested( station was on in the commons area and class rooms on request) in BÖC...but
I/we still didnt understand. And then it came to be..........My 1st live show!

10/26/79: Met Center, Minneapolis, Mn.
Memories fade for me on this one as it was a rough night. My good friends Terry(he had
the van) Dano(yo-yo) and Toto(another Dan) headed to the Twin Cities from La Crosse. I
was still in High school and my folks were not happy with the fact that my 1st real concert
would be with this band on an overnight trip. Well, as you can see I lived to tell about it.
Rocket and Black Oak opened..Black Oak was cool..Rocket....eh...I remember the 1st hit
of weed I took( yes my 1st) coughed for what seamed for ever, but we snuck in a bunch of
8 oz bottles of Blatz light Cream ale and a jug of wine....you could have almost dressed a
quarter barrel up as a friend and wheeled it in.
All I really remember about BÖC is that I was totally  gobsmacked to be there..we were in
the back part of the arena, Bloom/Lanier side 1st level off the floor bout 1/2 way up. The
energy, sound, vibe, realization that I am at a BÖC show numbed me. The entire show
was intrancing..then came Zilla, Hot Rails, 5 guitars and an explosion of pyro that tossed
me back almost 2 rows as Born to be Wild ended the show.....Sweet Mother of
Pearl!!!!!!!!!!!!! then the encore of Reaper......The smile was not gone for 1 week!

We got seats dead center in the 1st balcony..this place was shaped like a High school
gym..square, floor, wall seats, 1st level and upper. I remember the Zilla strobe and the
mask but as were the times, the rest of the show is a
blur~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

On to Madison!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
11/05/81, Dane County Col. Foghat and Whitford St Holmes as openers.
This show was one of the 1st of many epic shows I saw as it was the last night of the tour
for the bands together. Myself, Kootch, Paul and Dan( yo-yo) headed outta La Crosse wit
a case of beer and @ 20 joints rolled up on the way to Madison, Wi..we had a map and
took mainly back roads to avoid and problems.... General Adm. was the rule of the day!
As we pull into the dane Co. Col. we are excited as hell! It is the last night of the tour with
Foghat and WSH and we got great shows from the openers.
Once again the power of weed and beer fog the memory banks on the details to the whole
show, but I do remember Veterans and D&S.., Zilla, Reaper..I do Remember members of
Foghat coming on for the encore and the road dawgs up in the rigging dumping  beer on
the crowd!

BÖC. Documenting was not on my mind at this time.

And now..enter the new dawn of the computer age for me!

07/15/99: Rock Fest, Cadot, Wi. This is an all out drunk in the middle of a corn field for 4
days of music! BÖC was playing the 1st night and I got my Bro Steve from California to
come back and he and my other brother Mike headed out to the hook up place to meet my
friend Paul who's families cabin we were staying at..We arrive at a local bar around 11
am..waiting for Paul..the looks of "who the hell are these 3" were in the room....I finally
took a head count..checked the wallet and asked the bartender to buy the house a round.
Nothing like breaking the ice! I dont think we bought another beer after that...;-) Anyway,
Paul shows up, we get to the cabin and head to the outdoor venue..traffic jam comes
somewhat close..a 2 hour wait in the hot Wisco summer but thankfully the car infront of us
had pleanty of cold beer. This was my 1st time at an event of this magnitude..4 days of
rock...the crowd was huge! America opened..fantastic to see them as I have never had
the chance. BÖC was up next and it was the 1st time all 3 of us brothers ever saw them
together. I was just thrilled as hell to see them again! The set rocked..short but thats

And so on the real road I go!
Sun Theatre, Anaheim Ca. 2/25/2000
This was my 1st time flying in some time..I travled from the Twin Cities to Phoenix, Az to
see my Brothers Steve and Scott. short stay in Ph as we headed across the parched
lands on my way to a non midwest show. I knew the names of all of the folk on line but
had no idea who they  were. BÖC totally blew me away! the show kept going and
going..nothing like the shows I was used to..right down to the sit down and dont stand
thinking of the venue and the folk there..this confused me a tad..

This was the bigest stage I had seen them on since the early 80's and I was awe struck
with the whole show. At this time I was  on the outside looking in.....

07/28/2000 Trempeleau Hotel, Trempeleau, Wi.
It was a beautiful day for a show this July, 26th! Trempealeau is a small town on the
Mississippi River, @20 miles north of La Crosse, Wi. A tourist type town with a ton of
scenery. Rivers, Bluffs and Historical sites. The Hotel itself is like being in a large back
yard, the smell of fresh phlox and other assorted garden flowers were in the air as well as
the grill from the kitchen. Hardly the setting you would expect BOC to play in! The
stage....was about 30 feet wide, by 12-15 feet deep. Much like my basement. This was an
Out Door show on the very banks of the Mississippi River, Barges, and Rail Trains going
by all day, off and on.

We, including of my brother Mike, and a good friend Paul, got to the site around 2:00, had
a bunch of beer, and some of the fine food the Hotel has to offer and got down to the
business of making friends. @ 4:00 we had a brief shower that only added humidity to the
air, and thirst to the throat....

It was about 7:00 that the New Zither Band took the stage. A very good cover band doing
tunes from Janis to Skynard. A Great way to start the evening! Thank someone the
restrooms were close, and the river was there for a back up, ,as the beer began to take
it's toll...

It Will be Time! 9:00, or somewhere in that area the Blade Runner theme starts!

I'm caught outta the Buck zone so I settle for a spot in front of Eric and Allan... shoe tying
distance ;-) This will work! Expected "Stairway" for an opener....A given of the
time...Redcap to follow! ETI, Seen it... Harvest Moon was a 2nd time for me and the tune
rocked hard! Slide into the Boogie...what can you say....

Teen Archer was also the 2nd time around viewing for me, totally enthrawling, as was
Joan. Then on this small stage the assult of the Last Days began.....I dont believe words
other than Holy Shit can come close to the solos in this tune...

Off to the Standards, Burnin, Harvester, Cities, Zilla, Reaper, and for an e: D & S... 14
tunes in a place that was 5 times the size of my yard... which for the few who have been
here, ain't that big......

Totally Great Day all in all!

My 1st show to go to after I got on line.....the rest is another story.....

Hooligans Bar and Grill, Mankato, Mn. 6/29/01
This was an interesting trip for me to this show. I was working on the  Rochester  tech
school  on the south end of town..
I had known about the show for some time and was fired up for the solo ride to Mankato.
Got done with work at noon and did the couple hour trip in blazing heat across the
Minnesooooooota land scape.
Corn, beans and flat....
Got to Mankato and found the venue, Hooligans bar and Grill. Went in and made friends
with the owner and staff right from the get go.. Found out there was a car/bike fest in town
as well and all of the lodging was either $130 for a single or nothing.
The more than wonderful folk taking care of me found a place..$40 for the night, a lil' mom
and pop place that was the Ritz for me! 8 blocks from the venue...
Closer to show time I began to see some BÖC tee's come in..I did meet Shades that night
and his brother..other than that I talked to a bunch of folk and just did the gab..
Show time!

Right up front..
This is where I go stupid in the past as I would have gotten a setlist...but no.
Cool, small and friendly venue for sure. I met Shades for the 1st time, and a whole host of
fine folk that were there. Shoe touchin' distance with Buck, the stage was no more than 3
feet off the floor.
No recall on the entire setlist or order..
Life is fun!

8/31/01: Old Hiedelburg Park, Glendale, Wi. Sprecher Fest.
Have some Fun
Some tic for you all
